Sir Plus was born from a simple concept: to make quality, contemporary menswear from surplus fabric. Founder Henry Hales first stumbled upon the idea after he spotted rolls of unused fabric underneath a tailor’s cutting table. He snapped up the material and began making boxer shorts to sell on Portobello Market, where Sir Plus has been a regular fixture since 2011. Over time the collection has grown to encompass a full range of menswear, including workwear-inspired jackets, coats, grandad shirts and Sir Plus’ signature Nehru jackets. Most lines are still made using high-quality surplus sourced from mills and factories in the UK and Italy, with eco-friendly fabrics and natural fibres used elsewhere. In November 2017, the brand opened its first store at 306 Portobello Road, just metres away from its usual spot on the market.
