Matthew began designing jewellery in 2012, taking classes around Europe to learn different techniques, sculpting in precious metals, and producing pieces that perfectly balanced simplicity and elegance.
The real breakthroughs came at home in Matthew’s East London studio. Matthew was driven to perfect his craft, experimenting with tools, materials and finishes, and creating jewellery for friends, family, his fiancé Joseph and even their Cockapoo Colin until the first collection was perfected.
One collection quickly became five, and just 12 dedicated months after starting his new adventure, Matthew Calvin started to stock his jewellery in some of the UK’s most sought after independent boutiques.
The Matthew Calvin brand has since grown from strength to strength. Now stocked in over 100 locations worldwide, as well as select favourite department stores, Matthew Calvin has become synonymous for contemporary jewellery design.
Matthew is incredibly proud of his progress as a jewellery designer, but puts much of his success down to the people around him. With a small and growing team Matthew has found individuals who are as passion about style (and coffee) as he is.
The boutique stockists who have supported Matthew from the launch back in 2013 have provided invaluable feedback and advice, as well as the odd G&T after an onsite visit.
None of this would be possible without Matthew’s incredible customers. From day-one, Matthew has created a customer-first brand, encorporating suggestions, adding personal touches and always being available by email.
That probably why some of Matthew’s favourite projects are his bespoke pieces, designed for his customers’ most special life moments.
In March 2018, Matthew Calvin and his team moved a to London’s jewellery district, Hatton Garden. The new studio allows Matthew and his team to reach more customers than ever from a stunning new space.
Some things will never change. You’ll still find Matthew Calvin experimenting in his home studio, developing new collections and perfecting your next favourite piece.
