London Fashion Week: Insiders hosted a series of innovative talks with speakers such as Christopher Raeburn, Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones, and Amy Powney of Mother of Pearl. The BBC Earth x British Fashion Council x Mother of Pearl Positive Fashion series tackled sustainability within the fashion industry and a panel of Industry Insiders examined diversity in the industry.

BBC Earth x BFC x Mother of Pearl present Positive Fashion: Re-embracing Circularity and What that Means Now

This positive fashion panel discusses a circular economy in the fashion industry. Featuring; Christopher Raeburn, British fashion designer known for his REMADE ethos using recycled materials and newly appointed Creative Director of Timberland; Francois Souchet, Make Fashion Circular Lead at The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, whose mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy; Amy Powney, Creative Director of Mother of Pearl, who launched the brands sustainable line, No Frills, last year; and Julia Kenyon, Global Brand Director for BBC Earth.

In the the first event of its kind, this panel brings together; Dr Orr Yarkoni, Co-founder of Colorfix, the textile dye company with synthetic biology roots, who use engineered organisms to produce pigments through breakthrough technology; Amy Powney, Creative Director of Mother of Pearl who launched the brands sustainable line, No Frills, last year; Jessi Baker, Founder and CEO of Provenance, a digital platform that empowers brands to take steps toward greater transparency on their products and supply chains; and Liz White, Natural History Unit Producer of Planet Earth 2 and the forthcoming Frozen Planet 2.

This discussion will be centred around sustainable fashion and its importance in the industry and beyond. We welcome; Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones, Founders and Designers of British brand, Teatum Jones, who are textile pioneers and innovators in the field; Frances Corner OBE, Head of London College of Fashion and founder of its Centre for Sustainable Fashion in 2008; and Mike Gunton, Creative Director of the Natural History Unit, BBC.

What Does It Mean To Be a Fashion Influencer Today?

Join a panel of fashion influencers as they reveal behind-the-scenes secrets of how they got to where they are now.

The panel will discuss transparency on social platforms, the impact their content can have on followers and the changing face of journalism. This is an essential talk for all budding influencers and those interested in the ever evolving field of digital and social media.

The panel will be moderated by international journalist and Vogue Australia contributor Jiawa Liu of Beige Renegade, and will cover topics ranging from which influencers are doing it best right now, why authenticity is so important and how they are photographers, stylists and art directors rolled into one.

Jiawa will be joined by Alex Stedman of The Frugality, Joel of Gallucks, and Millie Mackintosh.
